SEAMPHONI is a landmark European research initiative developing an Intelligent Marine Digital Twin (IMDT) — a dynamic, AI-powered replica of offshore marine areas that models the full complexity of biophysical and socio-ecological processes in real time.
The Digital Twin integrates satellite data, underwater sensing networks, oceanographic models, fisheries data, and socio-economic indicators into a unified, continuously updating knowledge system. The result: science-based decision support for marine protected area management, ecosystem restoration planning, and sustainable ocean governance across European waters.
Work Package 5 Lead — responsible for the Digital Twin technological backbone: flexible knowledgebase model design, multi-source data integration, AI analytics layer, and full IMDT deployment on cloud infrastructure. SmartEdge develops the next generation of low-code semantic programming tools for edge intelligence and heterogeneous IoT integration — introducing Continuous Semantic Integration (CSI) as a new paradigm for IoT application development.
IMC.SK leads the Healthcare use case: a swarm of Personal Virtual Assistants (PVAs) — intelligent health Digital Twins deployed at the individual level. Each PVA continuously collects biometric data from wearables and medical devices, computes health KPIs, evaluates homeostasis shifts, and communicates findings in natural language. Purpose-built for elderly care and chronic condition management.
